The flavours of tradition and a love of genuine food have always shaped the work of Azienda Scalzo, founded in 1973 by Giuseppe Scalzo. At the start the business was closely tied to the mushroom trade, fresh and dried, but over time it grew and changed, moving on to making and selling forestry tools. The turning point came in 1989, when the company went from trading to craft production, beginning a new line of work devoted to preserving garden and wild produce, using traditional methods and treating the raw materials with natural elements only, without preservatives. All of it follows the unique recipes of Signora Carmelina, the founder's wife and still the backbone of the company today. Sugar, extra virgin olive oil, salt and everything else useful for natural preservation are what go into Scalzo products. Today Azienda Scalzo makes a wide range of items, sold through specialist shops across Italy and beyond. And as in the best traditions, the company has kept its family character over the years, giving every member of the Scalzo family a role of responsibility. All Scalzo products are born in the Valle del Savuto, made with traditional methods and raw materials treated with natural elements only, without preservatives. That is how the quality and genuineness the company has pursued over the years are kept intact, thanks to the love and dedication that have always been behind the success of the typical Scalzo products.
