Strawberry Grape Jam Tart (Mostarda)

Ingredients:

  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 150g cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 300g strawberry grape jam (mostarda)

Instructions:

Dough preparation:

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add the cold butter cubes and work the dough with your hands or a mixer until it resembles crumbs.

Add the whole egg and yolk and quickly knead until you get a smooth, homogeneous ball.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Tart preparation:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Roll out 2/3 of the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 3-4 mm thickness.

Line a tart pan (about 24 cm in diameter) with the dough, trimming the excess on the edges.

Tart filling:

Pour the strawberry grape jam (mostarda) onto the tart base, spreading it evenly.

Decoration and baking:

Roll out the remaining dough and cut it into strips to create a lattice on the tart surface.

Place the dough strips over the jam, forming a lattice pattern.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the tart is golden.

Cooling and serving:

Let the tart cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve the tart at room temperature.

Tips:

You can sprinkle powdered sugar on the cooled tart for a decorative touch.

This tart is delicious on its own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
