Our genuine pesto, a Calabrian variant of traditional pesto, is prepared with fresh basil leaves (50%), extra virgin olive oil, almonds, tomato, pecorino cheese, chilli pepper, salt and garlic. This pesto offers an explosion of rich and aromatic flavors, with a spicy note typical of Calabria. Pasta with Genuine Calabrian Pesto


  • 400g of pasta (preferably linguine or trofie)
  • 4 tablespoons of genuine Calabrian pesto
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 ripe tomato, diced
  • 50g toasted almonds, coarsely chopped (optional)
  • Grated pecorino cheese, to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish


  1. Cook the Pasta:Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Preparation of the seasoning:While the pasta cooks, lightly heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes, just long enough for them to soften slightly.
  3. Adding Pesto:Turn off the heat and add the genuine Calabrian pesto to the tomatoes in the pan, stirring well to combine the ingredients. If the pesto seems too thick, you can add a little pasta cooking water to make it creamier.
  4. Combine the Pasta:Drain the pasta al dente, reserving a cup of the cooking water. Transfer the pasta to the pan with the pesto dressing and mix well to combine. If necessary, add the cooking water little by little to obtain the desired consistency.
  5. Plating:Divide the pasta onto serving plates. Garnish with chopped toasted almonds (if using) and a generous sprinkling of grated pecorino cheese.
  6. Decorate and Serve:Decorate with fresh basil leaves and serve immediately.
