Stuffed Chilli Peppers with Tuna Gratin
Ingredients:
- 6 chillies stuffed with tuna
- 200g of tomato puree
- 50g of breadcrumbs
- 30g grated cheese (such as pecorino or parmesan)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and Pepper To Taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Method:
Preparation of Chilli Peppers:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Arrange the stuffed peppers on a baking tray lightly greased with oil.
Baking:
- Bake the chilies in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until soft and golden.
Preparation of the sauce:
- In a small saucepan, heat the tomato puree over medium heat.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and leave to cook for 5 minutes.
The final:
- When the chilies are done, remove the pan from the oven.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the chilies.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs and cheese over the chilies.
Gratin:
- Return the gratin chilies to the oven and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and formed a golden crust.
Service:
- Serve the gratin peppers hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
